While I had the colored pencils out, I saved some photos of the full sized A-10 and replicated the position of the canopy rivets and drew in the separated canopy line as well with the dark gray colored pencil.

Awesome looks T-Cat... still needs to finish mine..like very much alsos the wheatering on the refueling area...

Very cool! I was going to add rivets to my canopy but having never done it before I hesitated. You give me a new motivation to do something now.

Thanks guys! I was going to make a custom stencil to airbrush the rivets on, but then I thought, "I have colored pencils, that has to be quick and easy, no?". Thankfully, I was right, ha-ha. I've never created any rivets with colored pencil, but it was incredibly simple and looks good in the sunlight. It's not too drastic, but noticeable enough.

Anyone else think the stock front tire is out of scale or is it just me??? I have looked at many pictures of the real deal and turbine powered r/c ones and they all look to have a small front tire, soooooo I changed mine to a main tire from the F-14, drilled some holes in both sides to make it look more scale, painted it white and called it good, seriously, I think it's close but maybe a little too small??..

Yeap.... even additional wheathering too with modelling acrilics paints as Tamilla, Vallejo or Warhammer and thin brush...

Cross posting, really? I just posted it over there and was going to delete it from here, thought it belonged over there. I was excited I did a mod and it didn't look to bad, some of us are not talented like others so don't get all ruffled........:Cool:

I had my second flight yesterday and this time with ordnance. It really completes the model :Cool:
I flew at dusk and the lights on the A-10 looks awesome in these conditions.
Had to trim a lot of up elevator to fly straight with the ordnance mounted. So it does something with the aerodynamic signature for sure. But it looks waaay better! :)
I was maybe a little low on final,but that was intended LOL

That was a really great evening flight! I love how nice the lights show up after sunset. I guess you can almost fly until the very late night if you are at the northern part of Norway. :-) I would be out there flying all night if I could.

I noticed that in the ten minutes or so it took to take these, the A-10 cockpit gator skinned noticeably. I expected that to happen, just thought it would take a little longer. Time to get in there and build it up with card stock and sheet plastic.

Have been with this forum since the beginning and those that know me are well aware of my sincere actions to ensure this forum doesn't get convoluted like other sites I/we visit less frequently.

I think what is needed is a vacuformed plastic cover that will fit into the existing cockpit after removing the seat, with a plastic seat assembly that would go into the new cockpit. Maybe Sparks at Parkflyer Plastics could make one of his cockpit upgrade kits for this plane.

I also think this cockpit could stand some ventilation. Foam will gator due to excessive heat, even if it is not in direct sunlight. That big plastic canopy lets the sunshine in, then also holds in heat.

Like I said, this is just a good excuse to get back in there and really upgrade the cockpit;-)

I am always amazed at the ingenuity and detailing by the various A-10 owners when I haven't been in the thread for a bit...Impressive!

I just wanted to give a shout out to ColtPilot (Tim) for his generosity in gifting me the 6 bombs to add to my A-10. The finishing touch! Thanks again Tim! I'll pay it forward!

Mine too, left it in the sun for about 20 minutes on a cool morning and it got the gator skin look, I even had air holes in the cockpit but didn't seem to help with the issue, oh well, in the air you never see it.

The cool guy that made the mod vidio with the lite sticks said he was using foil tape on his canopy interior. He hasent been back. HEY cool guy....how is your jet coming along ?

Love the idea of the vacuformed plastic cover. Somewhat surprised after all the early discussion during development of how bad dark colors can effect gatoring that something wasn't done to begin with. However, the plastic cover might also be offered as an upgrade? Brad
