  • Airguardian : Yes, you are right

The 6S 7000er are from my AF-Models L-39 (12S) and shall also be flown in my yet to build Skymaster A-10 (2x 12S). I did not want to buy new packs

    • I mean, the plane will fly with those, you can definitely use them, my comment was maybe too harsh. But I strongly believe you'll have a better experience with this plane running a lighter setup. From two 850g packs to two 600g ones you have half kg of extra thrust margin. And lower wing loading is also very welcome :)

      • Yes, I know what you mean 👍 I will see how I like flying and then think if I buy a Set of 4000er or 4500er

        • I opened the gear and lubricated everything - the whole mechanic moved fine without resistance. But even in that open condition the gear suddenly stoped moving without any reason. There are microswitches for the endpoints inside the gear. So I guess there is an electronical problem which sends a "false stop-signal".
I will keep it for spareparts and wait for the new one. Hope the screws still hold tight.

          • Just ordered the F4. What receiver is a good choice. Using NX 8

            • Why post in this thread?

Any 6 channel or more DSMX receiver. I like to separate steering from rudder so that’s 7ch. If you want an internal gyro like AS3X that changes what you need. I use Orange receivers and satellites. I don’t use gyros.

Really if you need to ask there’s a issue.

                    • Brilliant work! It looks excellent! 👍 I just start to setup/rebuild mine, but I think I will not achieve your looks 😄
Did you change the servos? What about your power supply? I will use a Powebox Pioneer together with two 12A BEC from two ESCs from YGE.

                      Greetings, Kai

                      • Thanks happy you like it,

to Kai; the elevons are comlettly rebuild to scale mechanics so the axel is going halfway into the fuse, there are operated by HS 645 MG -Servos, power is supplied by the BEC of the Controllers. but i might give it a external bec since i need a little bit of weight in the nose (due to one 16000 flight battery)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Did you change the angle of the taileron rotation axle to be swept back, like the real thing?

If so, that should relieve the load on the stab. servos. (See, for example, posts 2712 and 2842 in this thread).

I believe Airguardian reached the same conclusion.

                          • yes thats what i did, i dont know if it really takes any load of the stab, since the axle is at about 25% MAC and there is quiet some more wingarea in the "wind" then at the stocksetup (axle in the middle). so i thought more powerfull servos wont hurt, just by my feeling. most importend improvement by that mod is the stiffnes of the tail i think

                            • @heisteff Can you tell us and show us what you did to get the airbrakes to work?

                              Comment

                              • ok for the airbrakes, it´s a little bit like on t33jetmans pictures. i use one 3.5 kg servo instead and a ballink leverage, printed out some servoarms ( bent forward somemore then normal). the "brakepedals" where shaped / cut out inside to fit the parachutetube (3d of thingivers) and after the hinges where done i glassed them with a 23gr fiberglas. the bottompiece (about 15 cm) that was cut out screws back on so you can access it for maintenance and for my elevators i attached some pics too. • Your airbrake set up is very intricate. I don't have the talent to do it. I was hoping that Motion was going to bring out the airbrake kit when they brought out the vector thrust nozzles.
Do you know if the airbrakes actually help reduce the ground roll after landing? Being such a heavy plane, my MiG rolls "forever". Airbrakes or reverse would really be of help.

                                  • Motion doesn't "bring out" things. Free Wing does.

I'm 100% sure it helps as when I use crow and rudder air brakes on landing it very much shortens out my roll out.

You're correct, but the point still remains. That airbrake "kit" was supposed to come about the same time as the VT nozzles. I wonder what happened to the airbrakes.
I may have to do the rudder brakes in lieu of those airbrakes. I use rudder brakes on my Flex Pirana and they work extremely well but that's on a belly lander, so speed decreases long before touchdown.

                                      • I don’t remember FW or Motion saying an airbrakes was in the works.

the issue with rudder airbrakes is channel count as you need two additional channels just for that, steering and each rudder needs its own channel. Add the additional channels that TV requires and it adds up.

Not based on anything "in the works". It's based purely on what Alpha, C. MoMo and wolpertinger posted over 2 years ago.

But candidly, we're waiting to see how to model itself takes off before over-committing to more upgrades. We've seen it in the past where most pilots end up flying/loving the stock PNP model (which is great!) and the upgrade market fizzles.
