All conditions the same, a wire with less surface area (smaller diameter) will pick up less noise from a radiating noise source according to my HAM radio guru. Radiated noise will decrease with an inverse square of the distance, so it’s a good thing to route wires farther away from noise sources. But...that practice is common knowledge.
