  • G'day fellas. Quick question, can anyone tell me what decal no 15 is? I can't find the number 15 on my sheets, (though I may have cut it off doing others), I'm guessing it's the liquid oxygen (breathing access)?

    Thanks!

EDIT: apparently it's not the oxygen one. All I can see on the placement sheet is two lines of text, buggered if I know what it says.

(more noob questions to follow) ;)

arrggh sorry to hear it todd. I'm sure it's within your skills to fix easy enough tho.

Sure Shirty! It's the "Canopy Control Intercom And Ladder Release" waterslide decal.

Thanks RC. I don't think I have posted any of the mods I've done in that thread. Hmm, I'll have to check. I think I may have posted everything in this thread. Maybe I can assemble all the pics and just make one big post of current mods when I make post in the A-10 Mods thread.

        • Ughhhh, I'm sorry to hear about your birds Kferros and Aros. I sure as heck hope you get back in the air soon. It's a real sting when you see a plane that you really enjoy have a moment that you know requires repairs.

Thanks mate. No wonder I couldn't find it. Apparently my decals don't include that one... never mind, no biggie though.

            • Today I had to bring out the airbrush again because the eyesore of servos, control rod, ball link, and pushrod keeper were bothering me. They stand out a lot. After I weathered the plane a week a couple weeks ago, I didn't think the servos would still bother me as much since the weathering tones down the planes brightness, but I was wrong. I mixed my own paint since I didn't take any parts to the hardware store for a paint match, and kept mixing black and white opaque colors until it was close. I'd spray, let it dry, check the color, mix again, and repeat until it was good enough. I painted each wing servo, the rudder servos (these were by far the largest difference after painting since they are the most noticeable), and the elevator servos. I also touched up all the visible screws on the jet, and when gray they don't stand out nearly as much as when silver.

Just in case, I have attached a picture on the waterslide decal sheet for you to reference the position of that specific one.

                • Nice, looks awesome. Painted mine as well.

Just gotta finsh the decals on mine, then it's back to my mates for a little weathering and clear coat. I guess the intercom decal got cut out when they cut up the sheets, definitely don't have it.

Also, my stars n bars got swapped for a kangaroo... though pretty sure that's not the factory's fault. :)

                    • No mate it's a vinyl actually. My mate who did the painting for me has a printer for stickers. Obviously my a-10 is in a Aussie scheme so doing a few custom decals in addition to the USA set.

cant wait to show you guys, but I want it finished before I post pics. But personally, I love how it's shaping up.

now just gotta do the sharks mouth. God I hope I don't stuff that one up lol

                      • That's amazing! That must be incredible to have someone close by that has access to print vinyl decals. Very very cool.

                        • Nice work guys !
Since mine is fun scale I get to cheat a bit and also made up a new interior color to fend off those pesky gators. I then drilled two holes in the canopy rear deck and made a screen cover out of a section from my fly swatter...lol

                              • So, next question: (sorry guys). I downloaded nearly everyone's pics of the sharks mouth applied to get an idea on how to set it up, but seems everyone's done it slightly different. BUT, it seems where the two decals join in the centre, that everyone has cut or painted in black the gap where they join? Is that how to do it? Seems no one has the gap, or have made a tooth to cover the middle? Cheers.

                                • Also....I accidentally pushed on the porta potty vent
At a job site and oops...silly me the screen came out.
Me thinks other vent mods are in my future.

Mine clearly needs braces but it's good enough for me. The offset of the gun kinda messes with making it symmetrical and I have never seen a shark with perfect teeth anyway. LOL

                                    • Lol, i like yours best! How did you close up the gap in the middle mate? No one seems to have this gap like the pic of mine on the table... what am I missing? :-S

                                      • I cut and overlapped the decal across the front. I based placement on the blisters on either side of the nose and let the front take up the difference. If you dry fit base on the blisters you will see that the decal overlaps a lot in front so I just made strategic cuts to allow the overlapping to look decent. If you look closely you can see where I did it. Notice too where I lined up the back of the mouth. I also had to trim away some on the bottom around the gun. Any places that were broken lines I just touched up with paint.
