Santa left this under the tree for me! I fly off of grass, so first thing I did was take all landing gear apart and locktite every single screw. I also added a trailing link nosegear.

I understand. I set mine up to have the same control settings in a slow flight mode made for doing aerobatics, just kinda messing around. I’d love thrust vectoring, but I have a few SU-35s for thatOriginally posted by Evan D View PostMy high rates are more or less the book high rates. I think the horizontal stabs are book high rate but aileron and rudder are slightly more. When I use full span flaps I have about half the book amount for the flaps and the ailerons match the same angle as the flaps so they have less travel. Hope that makes sense.
The crow was all, "that looks about right" since I didn't want too much and it falling out of the sky. To be honest the crow is more a conversation starter than a every flight use it thing. It works great after touchdown and taxying back. Looks cool too.
The full span ailerons and tailerons on high rate does an awesome fast axial roll.
The full span flaps are just a bit less stable on approach, a little tippy.
I have proper elevator comp mixed in in all these modes and it's amazing that I can go from normal flaps to crow to full span flaps with no pitch up or down. The programing has been really fun...

If anyone is wondering about the strength of the nose cone I offer you the buffoon move of the day. When I went to set up my rates I had my glasses off because I see better without them close in. So I go to reverse the ailerons and instead reverse the throttle. While doing so I'm thinking, I don't recall ever being asked to confirm a reversal before. Thankfully I'm working in a very tight space and it went full bore across the table into the wall with only the nose wheel dropping off the table. The nose cone made a pretty good dimple in the sheetrock but is as new.

You'll be glad you did that. Flying off grass with this much weight really takes a toll on the gear. Especially since this model has a fast rotation without flaps thrown in.Originally posted by JETGREASER View PostSanta left this under the tree for me! Hey Steve, which lights did you use for the nav lights? I noticed they shine up as well as down nicely. Was going to use lights I stripped out from an A-10 carcass but not sure now. Still waiting on the plane to get here so just putting my ducks in a row.Originally posted by RCjetdude View Post

My F-22 is ordered and on it's way. Really looking forward to turning and burning with this one!
I'm planning to use a Spektrum AR9350 gyro receiver particularly to help in crosswinds. I get a fair amount of tail waggle and wing rock in crosswinds with my other Freewing jets (Rebel, Stinger 90, A-4) and am keen to see if a gyro helps. This will be the first time that I have used a gyro so If anyone is using an AR7350 or AR9350 in theirs I would be very interested in learning what rates are being used in the various flight modes.
Cheers
Mike

Did you also use the Freewing F-14 light controller box as well or just plug them into the blue box?Originally posted by JLambCWU View Posthttps://youtu.be/zQddNbcs_ds
I finally quit flying her long enough to put the lights on.
For the lenses, I carefully cut out the rhombus shape. Then overlaid the light lenses from the Flightline P-38. Trimmed off the excess on both sides and squared the ends. Sheet styrene triangles added to both ends, and support tabs added to bottom to glue all 3 pieces together. Masked off the light bubble, Rustoleum filling primer and carefully glued in from underneath with Foamtac. (The Rustoleum filling primer is also a close match for the rudder servos, mask off with sticky notes)
To run the lighting wires I removed the aileron servo from its pocket, pulled the wire out back to the circuit board, and unscrewed the wing circuit board. I deepend the hole with a flat blade screw driver, then cut a foam channel most of the way from the aileron servo pocket to the rhombus. I plugged the upper and lower nav lights into the board, and the lower Nav lights only come on when the gear is down.
I added two two sets of Y’d wires from the Main control board to the Wing pocket with connectors at the wing pocket. I then ran a Red and a White light to each wingtip and reinstalled the aileron servo. The plugs for the red and white wire are left loose over the wing circuit board, then rescrewed that back into the wing root. White Strobes at the back upper half of the light blister, and respective nav lights at the front. Red lights at the back of each bottom blister, and respective nav lights on the front of each bottom.
My jet has dual upper strobes (White), upper and lower nav lights, as well as lower beacon (red) lights like the real F-22. I used the light kit from the Freewing F-14. The lower navs are only on when the gear is down.
I also added 2 lights to the main gear to aid with orientation on post sunset landings. With just the nose light, it is so bright you can glare over the aircraft shape and lose orientation.

Jetgreaser, which trailing link nose gear is that? Is that from the Yak-130?Originally posted by JETGREASER View PostSanta left this under the tree for me!
