  • Rob, that’s a really nice set of “chocks” you have there!

Did you make them or buy them? If purchased, from where?

    Thanks

    • I made them for static display...functional as well as for show! :Cool:Rob

      • Hey Ya'all, Installing DirtyDee's 3DP A-10A Cockpit kit and accessories on the 'personal peanut' and thought I'd show the detail DD put into these parts, it is truly outstanding. Sierra Hotel. Best, LB

        • Incredible detail DD. Might have to check it out at some point. Right now I have to report some good news/bad news kind of thing. Been flying my other fighters the last couple weeks trying to get used to my new cataract replacement lenses. I now have 20/15 vision in both eyes thanks to the opthalmic sugeon but taking my brain awhile to get used to them. Last Sunday, I took the A-10 out to fly with the new gear upgrades on the mains only. My first flight was a little dicey,(me not the gear) but the two following flights and, most importantly, the landings were smooth and BOUNCE FREE! Woohoo! I was elated and eager to try more landings to get my mojo dialed in. On the fourth flight I was turning on base for landing when a tree on the neighbor's property reached out and grabbed the A-10. I was stunned to say the least. Could not believe I was that far out....at least 300 feet past my property line. After replaying it over and over in my head, I can only think my distance was off due to the new eyes. I never fly that far out as the neighbor is not liking the planes to say the least. Had to call the Sherriff's deputy to escort me over to collect the plane. Not a pretty picture. Talk about insult to injury!!! Anyway, the good news is I'm very pleased with the new gear upgrades as they work better than I dared hope for my field conditions. Now just trying to decide on parts vs the arf plus which will get me back in the air sooner. Yes I like the plane and the way it flys that much.

Thanks for sharing progress pics Steve! All the extra little detail you are adding really helps make it look that much better.

I’m with you Brad...I’ve always said that if mine ever goes down, its replacement will be in the cart the same evening. That’s how much I love this A-10!

Sorry that that tree jumped out and grabbed it!

                  • Love the cockpit, very cool. Had a great session with the hog today in very gusty winds and first time with the new nose gear. It definitely seemed to help on bitumen, though I still bounced one landing - but that was 100% pilot error, not the gears fault. (Was a little hot in the wind, but no damage or anything and settled down nice on the second touchdown). Mod to the door worked well and no contact with the tyre. Overall, a great day. :)

Sorry to hear about that Brad...will you be able to get a corrective RX to get your vision to 20/20? Hope you're flying again soon! Rob

Nice job Rob! Those random details make a big difference IMHO.

                          • Hey there gents,
It´s possible to someone please send a good quality pic (to zoom in) of the “decals manual” (I don´t know the correct name of the sheet that shows were to apply each decal)? It will be very helpful!
I can find images on the web but this sheet seems more accurate (specially with the very small decals).
I´ll apply the flying tigers livery.
                            Thank you very much guys.
                            Cheers

                                  • Hey Rob, as I understand it, 20/15 is better than 20/20 so no correction needed. Just need to get my brain used to farsightedness instead of nearsightedness. I guess I better fly with a spotter 'til my brain gets used to how good my far away vision is now. Never thought seeing perfectly would be a problem.;)
Brad BTW your plane looks awesome!!!
