I just hope it ain't any later cause I need the time to assemble, paint mod and maiden before going to NEFI.

Man that sucks mate. We had some blokes dig up the main power supply to our field to sell the copper cable, (200 meters worth), leaving my club with no power and $30,000 replacement costs late last year. (It's the main underground power line that goes from the road, through the bush into the club). Bloody mongrels.

WHOAAAAA...........In my books that's firearm defensible;).
You guys musta been absent from your facility for an extended period in order for those bastards to do that.
I've got a small Kubota hoe and it would take me a full day maybe two to just dig up that length of cable let alone extract it out.

That is insane Shirty! Sorry that you guys have to deal with this sort of ridiculous thing. I'm thinking this might make a great next project for you guys, complete with some Hellfires..Might make them think twice next time :).

                    • Shirty, that has been a real issue here for some time. Here's something to think about mate! My company replaced 250.000 worth of impedance cable. Three months later, the rotten SOB's came back and stole the replacement. I know it's not quite the same, because of insurance. My point is, don't just rush to replace if you're club is fortunate enough to have the funds to? Which most clubs don't! Ya might think about how you could prevent the easy theft a second time. Just a heads up, Sorry Mate!

                      • We've had a couple of break-ins at our field over the years; the most recent one was about 6 months ago. We have a building that houses our fridge, concession stuff, lawn maintenance stuff, etc. It has a fold-out window for us to serve concessions at events. The scumbags couldn't get the main door open so they bashed a hole into the concession door and that's how they got in. Cleaned out the "honor cup" for drinks, as well as some of the food/drinks, and some lawn maintenance stuff if I remember correctly. I suggested a DVR-based security camera system but the club officers seemed less than thrilled.

There are few things lower on the Scumbag Scale than a thief.

                        • Cheers fellas. It's all been fixed now and upgraded to be a bit more theft proof. We also installed 24hr cctv. If youve seen my vids you know we are out in the bush a bit in a big wildlife reserve. They didn't dig the whole lot up just about 5 meters each end, and tried to winch the cable through. That's what buggered up the whole run. Worst thing was our insurance didn't cover it (does now), so it pretty well cleaned the clubs balance. It's the only reason I stepped up and agreed to join the committee and take on the pr/media role and help promote our end of year event. (Plus I've a lot more experience in that sort of stuff than anyone at the club).

But it gets worse... We paid a guy $21,000 for materials for new pits in January, (low interest loan from the maaa), and bloke did a runner. Won't answer calls or messages. Apparently went straight on holiday to Europe. :-S he's back now though. Solicitors are involved and court applications have been made, but that's gonna take at least 12 months. Old dude is the treasurer on our committee, he doesn't seem to have much experience managing an organisations money, so he paid the bloke the 21 grand in good faith, without a contract. :-S (who does that these days.... sheesh). but we got that sorted thanks to donations and another maaa loan, and we should have new pits in the couple of months or so.

anyway, just means I'll be a busy boy at my club for a while, once I have their bank account topped back up with sponsorships and advertising billboards all over the bloody club,(lol), plus the show, I'll be more than happy to leave them to it and go back to just flying and instructing. I fly there because I love it, I'm not sure I want to work there as well, and telling these old blokes how to run a business is trying my patience I'm used to being on top of a dictatorship, not a democracy hahaha. But all good, I'll get it sorted by end of year no worries. Besides running my own, helping people build their business is pretty much what I do for a living these days anyway. :) I hate thieves!!! Low life mongrels.

                              • Hey Shirty, sorry to hear about that and glad your helping to get it resolved. Those kind of folks are lower than a snake full of buckshot!!! We had an incident in a town called Bellingham nearby a couple of years ago where thieves tried to steal the copper wire from a power substation. Guess they didn't realize the substation was on line. Needless to say at least one of them got fried. Sounds harsh but I thought it served them right. Brad

                                • Thanx Shirty, it really is except for having to run the furnace 7 months of the year.

Brad, nope...not harsh at all. The defective gene pool got a reduction in it's over numbered population.

                                  • I've been to Bellingham and nearby Blaine quite a bit as I lived just across the border. Nice little places, too bad they too have to suffer from stupid criminals.
Brad, do you recall the DC-3 that used to sit on the edge of I-5 at Bellingham airport??
I was one of the guys who scooped it for our DC-3. The wings and a fair amount of parts are hanging on ours in Langley BC.
