Those look like clip-on ferrite core electronic interference reducers.

Here are some examples of those:

I used the Scorpion Backup Guard in my FW A10 today for the first time. After a 2:30 flight, the BUG and BEC were both very hot! The BUG battery cells went from 4.2v down to 3.8v on this flight, so I figure it must have been activated since gear retraction or earlier. Without the BUG in use, the A10 BEC just gets warm, not hot.

Tried the BUG in another plane (xtreme Flight extra 300 on 4S) and it stayed cool the whole time.

Has as anyone else experienced this? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post.

Thinking I'll discontinue use use of the BUG in my Hog and look for a better "insurance" option!

I've been using the backup with every flight. And have not noticed either becoming hot? Matter of fact, I just had to charge the two cell pack on the backup for the first time, after a dozen flights. I'd be interested in hearing what others might think the cause is?

I actually never heard about the BUG. But yeah the a10s beck seems to gets extremely warm. Then again,my batts, and wires from the ESCs are crazy warm! Warmer then any of my other electric planes.

I have noticed the backup getting warm and I usually need to charge it after about 3-4 flights. I haven't noticed the BEC getting hot but haven't really checked it either.
Currently grounded as Sarasota county has closed Rothenbach park to the public to use it as a staging area for storm debris collection. So, won't be checking any time soon.

https://www.motionrc.com/products/fr...connecting-pin
I haven't actually "tried to break it yet"LOL, but I would say it's the same. The temper could vary from batch to batch. Can't say for sure. I haven't heard of any Avanti nose gear pin breakage, but it certainly doesn't have the mass of the A-10 either. When I first got the Avanti, I had a couple bounces and came down on the nose pretty good. It was enough to pull the nose gear mount loose, but did not snap the gear pin.

Hello Legman,
I provided a response to your concern here:
Do you use any kind of backup battery for the receiver & servos? My new Freewing A-10 has a BEC that is tapped off of one of the batteries. If that were to

I don't own a hog ( yet ) but wondered about the 9 bladed edf units. Are they a metal housing? I've read that 9 blades are more efficient than 12 and come close to the 12's jet whoosh sound while providing better thrust.
Ive seen the A-10 fly, and the performance is impressive and they sound amazing, especially with the NERF modification!
MRC finally listed this fan unit, no picture yet, at only 11 bucks! Can this really be the unit that comes with it? I had to order one, and ordered the 1900kv motor, too. I wish they were preassembled and balanced!:Silly:

I'm thinking it's likely that the $11 fan is literally the 9-blade fan unit itself, and does not include the EDF shroud. I'm not sure though.

The stock 80mm EDF shroud is plastic and a very soft flexible plastic at that. Thankfully it seems more resilient to cracking than a hard shell plastic would. However, doesn't have the structural integrity that a hard shroud would and disfigures more easily. When I hold the stock shroud in my hand, I can easily squeeze it and have many of the fan blades touch the shroud.

Motion cautioned everyone about the voltage earlier I thought 5 volts was the max they recommended. Or keeping it under 6 volts I can't remember now.

15 flights now and no nose bleeds. Had several bunny hops yet the nose gear hasn't broke. Just lucky I guess, but do have a spare just in case. ;)

I don't know about everyone else but I am getting frustrated with this difficult to land jet. It flies so nice and then you try to land and if it isn't perfect you break the nose retract. How about it Motion..... when are you going to address this issue. I know I am not the only one frustrated by this flaw.
Maybe if all the rest of us that are bouncing landings speak up to Motion something can get done to fix it. That said I maidened my A4 today and put 4 flights on it. What a great flying airplane easy to takeoff, easy to fly and easy to LAND (without bouncing).

What say you Motion??????

Reverse your struts and it will stop the bouncing.
