Hey Jim, my chute is 17" in dia. I do not know how well a rocket chute will work with this set up as I have not tried one so it would be interesting to know if you do find one that works. If it is too bulky it will be difficult to get it to deploy consistently. There isn't much room as you said and it has to be just a little loose on the compartment. I personally like the look of the slot/ring chute over any rocket chute I have seen but that is me.

    • The chute I made for the F.F. F-4, was made out of light nylon(from the L.X. A-10), and It compressed well. I would love one like the one you, or helmsman56 made.....$ ? I don't have the "seamstress" skills you two have.....LOL. I'm in for one, and it sounds like you guys could sell a few more while your at it....

              • That Looks about right to me too, Helmsmen52. Definitely going to install one of these in mine, when it gets here. I've got a few things here in the shop, but I will need the 2nd most important thing: The CHUTE...(1st is, of course, THE JET.)

                • I for one would be happy to get the FG tail cone from Steve. Pretty sure I could fabricate everything else for the drag chute system.

Paul, that is just a fabulous comparison. I think the chute you are planning will be spot on with what we have learned.

Get in line Pat. I just sent one to Paul and have three more in the queue to do. :)

I designed those 100% scale in autocad and output them down to the scale of 1/12.38938. I used 63' for length of full scale phantom 63'X12" =756" ÷ 61.02"= 12.38938. If you need them to a different scale I can do that. There may be some issues with the fuel tank that I am working with rcjetdude to get those cleared up.

This is awesome apmech1! I'm currently printing the SUU-23! I wss just wondering what will be used to mount it on the F-4?

                          • I will be making up a scal-ish pylon for it, most lkely using magnets and line up pins. I dont have the model yet(next month) to really detal a good pylon for both the 600 gal fuel tank and the suu23.

                            • We sell a pack of the plastic male/female slotted attachments that Freewing uses on the F-4's other pylons. If you want to use that same mechanism to keep things easily interchangeable, buy a set.

For 3DP designers, it may be useful to integrate the female side into your ordnance. Installing a male side into the foam is very easy. In fact, the opposite is just as easy.

Mate - There's no way the female side is as easy as the male side... at least not in my experience lol ;)

edit: that reads a bit wrong, I haven't tried the male side. :)

In general, I prefer to keep the gender as standard as possible - interchangeability is always a bonus :-D
