I just thought of something else from my flight this past Sunday that has been troubling me a bit. I'm running a Lemon Telemetry RX and have the voltage probe stuck into one of the cell voltage wires in the balance port. So, the Main Battery Voltage reads 4.2v at the beginning of flight and counts down as that cell voltage drops. What I noticed, a minute our two into the flight was that the cell voltage was announced as 3.0v. I nearly panicked and landed the Hog PDQ. On the ground, the static voltage was 3.6v, and when I checked my max and min log on the TX, the cell voltage had dropped as low as 2.8v. When I ran up the engines again, that cell voltage dropped to 3.0v again. Are you guys seeing a 0.6v drop in voltage under load? It scares me that it's dropping that much because somewhere around the low 3v range, the ESC will stop supplying power to the engines.

Welcome Errick, I be a 'newb, too. Ordered an A-10 yesterday. I have a Phantom on 2nd round pre-order and presume this will be a great summer for edf's at my house. The guys and gals here are just the best and offer sage advice. I could not be happier with my return to the hobby. Post your progress with pics and vids. Best, ElbeeOriginally posted by Errick View PostHello, and Happy Easter. I am new to Hobby Squawk and I just ordered my 80mm A-10 today. I tried to read all the post from day one, but it's gonna be a minute before I actually catch up. Sounds a lot like batteries that are past their prime. It's normal to have voltage drop under load compared to at rest, but this is much. Check internal resistances.Originally posted by Oxotnik View PostI just thought of something else from my flight this past Sunday that has been troubling me a bit. Yep, 0,5v drop under load strikes me as too much, too. Will definitely check these batteries before I fly them again in the Hog.Originally posted by janmb View Post

You'll get less than 3 minutes .............. "maybe"! This thing was meant for 10,000mah of batteries and then you might get 4 minutes. You've only got 9000mah with those. You'll burn up some of it taxiing out and then a bunch more taking off. Do a couple of small circuits and land. You might get one go around if you flub the first attempt. If you fly this at 1/2 throttle, you should have gotten a Piper Cub. It's about as thrilling.Originally posted by RCCAPTNICKYG View PostI Also have The FREEWING 1700 mm A10, and I have 6S, 4500mah, 45C batteries for it. It really does depend on how you fly it. I can get 4 minutes out of it with my Admiral 4000s without too much of an issue. However, I enjoy flying it slow and scale, and even occasionally gliding. It still surprises me just how well it glides! I still mix it up with a few loops and rolls with a few blips of full throttle, but I don't stay there long.

You can possible get near 4 minutes, but that will take a LOT of throttle management and calm flying.Originally posted by RCCAPTNICKYG View PostI Also have The FREEWING 1700 mm A10, and I have 6S, 4500mah, 45C batteries for it. I had about 5 minutes total on mine, including taxi, so a tad over 4 minutes airborne, with 5800 batts.Freewing A-10 turbine conversion: http://fb.me/FreewingA10TurbineConversion

Same here. Before getting the model, my biggest concern was whether I would be able to make it behave slow and calm enough for good scaleness. It certainly did not disappoint at all in that regard.Originally posted by downwindleg View PostThe Piper Cub comment seems a little harsh there dude. I fly the hog at half speed most of the time and I think that is actually too fast for scale speed. I do agree about smaller batteries being an issue if you have to do a couple go arounds. You need that safety margin IMHO.

Harsh? I guess the humor was lost on you. I can't help that. Just as you calling me "dude" offends me. I take offense at that term being used in this context but then, you can't help that either. Why do you get offended by a comment made to someone else. Oh look! Someone gave me a "like" for my post. I guess the humor was NOT lost on someone else.Originally posted by downwindleg View PostThe Piper Cub comment seems a little harsh there dude. Sorry dude, I mean man, or fella, or guy.:) The word dude is a pretty common term around my area and no offense was meant. As to taking it wrong, LOLthese smilies are supposed to help with that so nothing is lost in the typing. Didn't see one of those. As to being offended by your comment, I wasn't, but having said that. I hate to see anyone capping on someone else, especially a newbie. So again, I apologize for misinterpreting your original comment.:Loser: Back to the hog trough I say.

Apology accepted. I should have used a smilie. It's just that your post was very reminiscent of some of the weirdos on RC Groups, which I despise and try not to post any more than I have to there. A few of those tend to do a "gang bang" on someone just because they feel the need to belong to a group greater than themselves. To me, "dude" is a term used with light hearted conveyance of a form of addressing someone (like "sir or mister"). However, when used in certain context, it's a derogatory term used to put someone in his place or to stifle his point of view when that view is interpreted in a negative way and we all know, interpretation is in the eye of the interpreter.Originally posted by downwindleg View PostSorry dude, I mean man, or fella, or guy.:) The word dude is a pretty common term around my area and no offense was meant.
