The stock battery straps are quite long and should be sufficient to secure around just about any size lipo this thing could take.Originally posted by T-CAT View PostFor anyone stacking batteries (I believe RCdude is and maybe some others as well), did you decide to use a completely new battery strap of larger length to accommodate the increased length needed, or did you end up combining both stock battery straps to make one (as they catch at each metal piece)?Pat

Each one is too short though to use just one strap to secure both batteries stacked one on top of the other. They would have to be joined together. I'm not sure I trust them once joined though, as stacking one on top of the other adds some serious heft, and the velcro isn't too strong. It's plenty strong and secure for the traditional single battery use, but double stacked is questionable. :)Originally posted by crxmanpat View PostThe stock battery straps are quite long and should be sufficient to secure around just about any size lipo this thing could take.

Ah, yes, stacked batteries will have issues. When I have this problem, I pull out my roll of double-sided velcro and make my own straps. I had to do this on the Tigercat as I am using Turnigy Graphene 4S 4000 packs in it, and the stock straps were too short. And this reminds me, I need to do this to my Mig-21 as that strap is too short for the larger pack I'm using.

Going to try to maiden this evening as long as the weather holds. Thinking about where to put my Mobius for a nice POV. I don't want to have to add counter weight so I may stick with a typical around the CG POV...Ideas?My YouTube RC videos:

Awesome, thanks. I was thinking of doing the same exact thing as I had a roll of that velcro, but I must have purchased it long ago and not have realized that it is very weak velcro. Time to head to the hardware store in hopes of finding long velcro that's strong. Each LiPo I have weigh about 910g, and stacked on top of one another has me a bit worried to be honest. I may add a few more screws in the wooden tray as well for added assurance.Originally posted by crxmanpat View PostAh, yes, stacked batteries will have issues. Hey TomPatton, thanks for pointing that out.Does anybody have the C.G.established and maidened the plane with two of the NEW admiral 5000s. Aros had great info on that but he is using the old style batteries. The new ones are a full inch longer! Thanks, Brad

Nice. Outside of the Avanti, that 70mm V2 F-16 is my favorite jet to fly at the moment. Total blast. My YouTube RC videos:

Hope you can get the maiden in today and it goes well. Maybe it can fit on your roof rack to Friday Harbor if it does.:) Is that your wingman Chris in the video? BradOriginally posted by Aros.MotionRC View Post

You can see the green line on the starboard side. That's where I place the end of the battery. Sometimes it may go a little toward the step down, but pretty close to the green line. FLIES GREAT!!!Originally posted by downwindleg View Post
Thanks DrDeath, to be clear the front end of the lower battery is at the second long oval back from the stepdown?
